DAFRICASH - #173 Early Adopters and Supporters, Transparent, Passionate / App funding / Lisk promotion

Thu Apr 14, 2016 7:26 pm

Hello everyone, we are two blockchain enthusiasts from Morocco that have been following Lisk since it’s early days. For months, we have maintained a testnet node up, a public node,a dedicated lisk website (https://liskafrica.com) and tried to spread Lisk among our local community.

We have been following all that revolves around the Blockchain as innovative project with added value for more than 3 years already. We have also made up a mining ASICs and GPUs, and used it to mine late 2013 Bitcoin,Litecoin, dodgecoin ... We have also been part of the Ethereum project before its pre-sale and were also involved in few other crypto projects.

The dafricash team is composed of a 33 years old software developer and a 28 years old information system specialist,

Current and Planned Contributions to the Lisk Ecosystem

We do speak three languages: arabic (mother tongue), french and english. Thanks to that we are also intending to promote lisk among the arabic and french speaking community through the creation of a website which will offer tutorials, news ...
The goal behind that is to get as much people involved in lisk projects as possible.

We have been working and updating regularly the french version of our website https://www.liskafrica.com/ since may 2016. The website is mainly intended to the French community. We translate almost everything about lisk, it is an in-house translation, so we make sure the general meaning stays the same. We also write genuine articles in french. The technical documentation can also be found on the website and will be updated accordingly.

Here are some stats of the website:

We will also be working on the arabic version of the website in order to grab the arabic community to Lisk.

We have also contributed (http://desktop.lisk-wallet.com/sponsors.html) in fixcrypt’s community funded lisk wallet http://desktop.lisk-wallet.com/ and have done its Arabic translation. We have been maintaining a test net node since may 2016. We are also providing a public wallet available at https://main.liskafrica.com; it was already available during the official launch of main net.

We have developed our own monitoring tool under windows (C#). We will try to push it to Github as soon as possible. The tool informs us about the servers status by sending us notifications whenever the node is malfunctioning. Other features will be added to that tool like forging auto-balance to a synced backup node whenever the main one is out of sync ,or receiving SMS notification instead of email notification. This monitor will help us maintain a very high productivity, thus helping us stabilize the network. Below are the servers specifications:

Main Server:
• OS: Ubuntu 14.04 x64
• CPU: 4 vCore
• RAM: 4096 MB
• Bandwidth: 4000 GB
• Storage: 90 GB SSD

2 Back up servers:
• OS: Ubuntu 14.04 x64
• CPU: 4 vCore
• RAM: 4096 MB
• Bandwidth: 4000 GB
• Storage: 90 GB SSD

Testnet server:
• OS: Ubuntu 14.04 x64
• CPU: 4 vCore
• RAM: 4096 MB
• Bandwidth: 4000 GB
• Storage: 90 GB SSD

We will also try to gather and educate local community about blockchain and Lisk. One of our wishes once sidechains are operationnal, is to organise workshops and / or presentations to promote Lisk to software development students of some of the british universities in Morocco (e.g http://www.sist.ac.ma/).

Through the website we will have a bounty program for dapps proposal and sponsor the best proposal. We will communicate a more elaborate plan concerning this program as soon as we approach sidechain stabilization. A special address will be set to host dapp development bounty fund and we will be sending weekly the allocated percentage of dapp development (35 %) to that fund starting from week 1. The aim is to gather enough funds and have them available, so that we can start sponsoring the best projects as soon as sidechain stabilization is achieved.

Ending Statement

First of all we are two persons that have been working on the lisk project since its first days. We have already spent countless hours promoting lisk and trying to grab community to it, without any incentive. This only shows you that, with forging reward we will be able to do much more that what we have done until now.

Since we’ve been in this project since it’s early days we have a very clear vision on what has to be done to help this project grow, and most importantly how to spend the forging rewards. This is a detailed plan of how forging rewards will be used:

Plan for rewards:

• 25% - will be used to develop and maintain(news, tutorials etc. for the French and Arabic community).
• 10% - Ongoing maintenance and server cost.
• 35% - Blockchain apps (Dafricash Bapp fund)
• 10% - E-marketing (google, facebook, cpa, cpc, cpv ...)
• 20% - Personal reward

The plan stated above might be subject to change in the future. These percentages will change to reflect LSK’s price fluctuation.

voted. It could be very interesting to see your node directly hosted in North Africa. There is just 1 node hosted in south africa now

thanks for your interest, our goal is to host our server here in Morocco for a better decentralisation of the network and to promote LISK in the african continent.
