Joel wrote:Hello Diplo,

Great introduction! :)

I have a few questions concerning your delegate node, I hope you don't mind sparing a couple of minutes.

  • What is your technical experience or background with handling nodes on a server?
  • What will be the specifications of your server once the main net is launched? What are your specs at the moment?
  • Are you planning on providing protection to the server (e.g. DDoS protection)?
  • If you were to be selected into the active delegation, how would you use the forging rewards to improve Lisk?

Hi Joel!

Thanks for your kind words.

As I briefly touched on in my introduction I'm 1 of 2 partners at a quant investment firm (algorithmic trading & investing). We run and maintain 6 servers (soon to be more) in a local data center that require 24/7 uptime (we manage millions in assets, risk management and continuity is our #1 priority for our clients' accounts). From my experience with this I feel technically savvy enough to run and maintain a lisk node. My current setup is on a cloud vps with 2 cpu and 2gb ram, but I will upgrade to 2cpu/4gb or greater, as needed (I don't mind pushing more resources into this, especially on the main net). I have DDoS protection provided by the host.

Regarding lisk rewards for improving lisk: I have been giving a lot of thought to this lately. Off the bat, I would use whatever amount needed (it will fluctuate with price of course) to run a highly robust node, no expenses spared. Secondly, I recognize I am no specialist in app development, but my skills lie more in recognizing people, groups, and projects that I believe have a chance at being successful--this stems from my background in entrepreneurship and startups. One field I feel is not represented much in this community currently is the finance/venture capital industry. It's great to have a bunch of highly technical programmers, but it's also just as important to have business-minded individuals to help identify and nourish (fund) these guys. That's where I want to participate with my forging rewards. I already have a small group of crypto enthusiasts (mostly engineers) where we meet and discuss weekly and jointly invest in new projects and coins--I intend to grow this group as we go forward and use a significant portion of the lisk rewards for DAPP development.

As a side note: I have pushed significant sums of capital (from our fund) into bitcoin as an alternative asset holding over the past couple of years. I keep a close eye on the most viable projects, Lisk being one of them, for us to invest additional capital into for our cryptocurrency holdings.

When I come across a project that I think will be a game changer I tend to get consumed and obsessed. The last few weeks of my interest and involvement in lisk have been nothing short of that. I hope you will consider my position seriously and know I am invested in this for the long term. :)

Thanks,
Diplo
