Delegate Foundation (DF)

Thu Apr 28, 2016 9:44 pm

Latest update (21th August 2016):

As the team stated in the roadmap today, the Lisk team itself will start a fund.

The Eternity phase is the final step of this roadmap, and is all about governance. It includes a decentralised voting mechanism in order to add proposals, and gather opinions from LSK holders in a decentralised way.

We will soon announce a Lisk fund which will collect LSK from individuals and delegates. Once we are in the Eternity phase, these LSK will be controlled by 16 known curators in a multi-signature account. Until then, the Lisk team will manage the fund with the legal obligation to not use any of it.

The Lisk fund will act as a funding vehicle for new blockchain applications, and will guarantee the continued development of the Lisk core.

Hi!

The Lisk Delegate Foundation, short DF, is a foundation founded by delegates to support Lisk. It collects a percentage of all LSK, forged by our delegates. To start this project, we need to answer following questions first.

Questions:
- Who will manage the "Main Funding (Multisig-)Account"?
- Who will manage the four sub-accounts (tech, community, marketing, socializing)?
- Will the people who are managing the fund, reveal their personal ID to Max?
- Does it have to be 20%, can it be a range?
- How many % of the 20% are we using in real-time (always available)?
- How many % of the 20% do we put in a vault for three years?
- Can I control my funds until a project will get funded?
- Do all funding-accounts have to vote back to the delegate who are funding regularly / monthly?
- Do I still get votes from the foundation-accounts, if I stopped funding?
- What are the incentives of agreeing to the fund?

Following diagram is just an example about how this project could manage its funds:

I just created a chart with numbers to play with. You should only play with the numbers in the grey fields. Every category shows how much Lisk and how much in USD (at the price at the top left) would be available every month in the specific category.

Would be nice if a delegate can enable this from inside his forging account so the % would be automatically send to a multisignature account. Also there should be some sort of voting system so the community / delegates can vote for what the funds should be used. Basically its decentralised government if done right.

We have to solve following questions:

- How do we call it? Examples: Lisk Delegate Foundation | Lisk Forging Foundation | L20 Foundation

Hey Everyone,

This also looks really cool, im working on something now simular called the Hero project, working atm on the whitepapper and also diagrams, but because i do this alone so far its not going fast.
Instead of making more projects of the same kind, we might better to work togheter on one great setup.

Bacobob,

He posted this here for feedback and to try and work together to come up with something. There are several other threads as well. Would you be willing to discuss more details about your Hero Project? I haven't seen anything outside of your initial delegate proposal and you haven't chimed in much during the discussions but I would love to see where your current thought processes differ from what he and some others are proposing.

There are definitely 3 or 4 competing ideas about how to go about designing something like this and I don't think there is any consensus yet so there is definitely room for improvement/considerable change in the methods / rules of the entity.

How do we call it? Examples: Lisk Delegate Foundation | Lisk Forging Foundation | L20 Foundation

- Who will manage the "Main Funding (Multisig-)Account"?
Trusted members example , Max, Olivier, Malraynolds etc.

- Who will manage the four sub-accounts (tech, community, marketing, socializing)?
I think just suitable people for that section and pref on volunteer base, atleast at start.

- Will the people who are managing the fund, reveal their personal ID to Max?
I think thats indeed is a good idea

- Does it have to be 20%, can it be a range?
Maybe make it an range, cause some also use the funds for there own projects, you can always make a bonus
everyone above 10% will get votes from the foundation.

- How many % of the 20% are we using in real-time (always available)?
As much as needed, some project might need a little more then extra, just a good money management is needed.
maybe aim for 50% so you always have a decent backup.

- How many % of the 20% do we put in a vault for three years?
i would say the other 50%,

- Can I control my funds until a project will get funded?
I think everything should go into a safe multisignature wallet, so no.

- Do all funding-accounts have to vote back to the delegate who are funding regularly / monthly?
Maybe make it if they deposit a minimum of a fixed %. This make it fair to everyone that donates at least that monthly.

- Do I still get votes from the foundation-accounts, if I stopped funding?
Maybe for a fixed time incase someone hes autoscript stopped or holidays etc.
- What are the incentives of agreeing to the fund?
